R. Joe Wood, S.E.

Biography

Joe Wood attended the University of Kansas where he received his B.S. in Architectural Engineering. Joe moved to California when he began work for Arthur Sauer in 1955 and headed the Fresno office in 1959. In 1971 the company was incorporated as Sauer Wood and Associates.

After Mr. Sauer’s retirement in 1979, Vance Wiley became Joe’s partner and the company became Wood Wiley and Associates. Joe retired from active participation in the company in 1995, but returned as a part time consultant for the next three years until completely retiring in 1998.

While practicing Joe was in responsible charge of the design and production of many projects including hospitals, schools, office buildings, detention facilities, courthouses and manufacturing plants.
